Close competition – name new road

Cllr Nicholas Coombes at the Lime Grove School site

A name is needed for the new close of houses to be built on the Lime Grove School site.

The thirteen houses were approved by the planning committee last month. Lime Grove Gardens will be extended with a new cul-de-sac with houses on the railway side and at the end.

Your local councillors are asking for your suggestions for naming the new road, the best of which will be put to the developers.

You can email your suggestions to bathwick_libdems@yahoo.com or write them in the comments section below. Please include a reason for your proposed name.

  1. Noel Buxton says:

    Lime Grove Close

    because

    a) it’s at the end of Lime Grove Gardens
    b) it’s a close

  2. Noel Buxton says:

    Or you could call it:

    Lime Grove Gardens

and number the houses from 22 to 34 just continuing the existing street.

  3. Pat Catlow says:

    The Limes.

It fits in nicely with the rest of the community of which it will be part.

  4. Suggestions have also been recieved by post and email which I will share here:
Tilia Close – the latin botanical name for Lime recognises the city’s Roman connection
    Linden – German for Lime
Brunel – to recognise the creation of the Great Western Railway
Rennie – to recognise the construction of the Kennet & Avon Canal
Foster – to recognise Bath’s long-serving Member of Parliament
